A 36-year-old man has been arrested by the Ertzaintza for his alleged connection to the fire that broke out on Friday at the Iurreta (Bizkaia) paper factory, where 50 coils were burned outside the company Smurfit Kappa and which, due to the proximity of the fire to the N-634 road, forced the road to be closed for 14 hours.
The fire started on Friday afternoon for unsolved reasons. The firefighters spent hours trying to extinguish the flames completely.
The Ertzaintza opened an investigation to determine the causes of the fire. The information gathered led to the identification of a 36-year-old man, a paper worker, who was arrested yesterday morning on charges of damage caused by the fire and who was taken to court today.
The investigation is still open.
