The 2026 Álava festivities will offer eight days of tradition, culture and leisure.
The Álava Festivities of 2026 will combine tradition, culture and music with an extensive program of activities aimed at all citizens San Prudencio , patron of the province, will be held on 28 April, while theday of Our Lady of Jerusalem will be held on 1 May with the traditional romerie.
The Congresswoman forCulture and Sports, Anadel Val , presented today, Thursday, the party schedule and stressed that "these parties will once again be a meeting point for citizens, a shared space where we celebrate our traditions, but they are also our way of living together, enjoying and feeling part of Álava."
The parties will officially begin on April 24 with the proclamation ceremony in the Plaza de la Provincia. This year the preacher will be theessayist and novelist Antonio Altarriba , the presenter will be Josune Vélez de Mendizabal , and there will be an act of tribute to Bruno Mars.
On Saturday, April 25, the Plaza de la Provincia will host some of the most popular activities, such as traditional gastronomic contests, dances and the Álava Fanfare Day, which will fill the streets with music and festive atmosphere.
The day will be rounded up at night with the concert of A Contra Blues in the Plaza de la Provincia. A Contra Blues will celebrate with us a two-decade tour that has made it one of the most powerful blues rock bands in the state.
OnSunday, April 26, the Kantuz Blai choir will take the animation to the streets in the morning. At 21:00, we will inaugurate the Euskal Gunea in the Ark Square. Over the next few days, this space will focus on the promotion of Basque music.
On Monday 27the traditional Sanprudencio Tamborrada will take place, which is one of the most significant moments, going through the streets of the centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz and leaving at 19:00, as the eve of the Sanprudencios Retreat, first in the new square and, at 21:00, in the Plaza de la Provincia.
A Contra Blues, Kantaberri Abesbatza, Mala Brigo and the Art Musical Theatre will be among the calls of the retreat. Music, tradition and dance will be combined on stage to animate the square. These performances will culminate in a pyromusical show by Valecea.
On the great day, Tuesday, April 28 , there will be a combination of events in the centre of Vitoria, such as the performance of the eighth of San Prudencio, the drum of the "great-grandchildren of Celedon" in the morning, and the childish drum in the afternoon.
In Armentia, children's activities, dances, rural sports exhibitions, animation and two concerts will be held in the fields to complete the afternoon. La, at 18:00, by the Beret Brava group.
The programming will continue on Wednesday 29and Thursday 30with cultural and scenic proposals, as part of contemporary circus initiatives, as well as concerts for different audiences. The youngest will be called back to the Euskal Gunea, on the 29th, with the performance of Jonkass, who will present a live in Basque to dance and reclaim. The most nostalgic will have a date in the Plaza de la Provincia, as at the classic party of the 1980s, on the 30th, at 21:00.
Finally, onFriday, May 1, the traditional Romerie of Estibaliz will be held and this year the 50th anniversary of the first Fair of Desagrabios will be celebrated, which will include activities throughout the day such as competitions, children's workshops, sports exhibitions, music, dances, bertsolaris and traditional popular food.
