The measure proposed by the French Government was tabled by the far-right, arguing that the purchase of a new car is not within anyone's reach and implied a difference between poor and rich citizens, and that this was a violation of the constitutional right to equality.
On that basis, as in the National Assembly, last night, in the Senate, it was decided to suspend the measure.
The measure will therefore not enter into force, and, as before, it will be possible to drive in the car without special badges.
