The connection between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Menorca will be operational from June 1 to October 31. According to the promoter, this destination will help strengthen the air connection and diversify the summer supply.
Volotea Airlines will connect Foronda Airport in Vitoria-Gasteiz with Menorca during the summer season between June 1 and October 31, according to the company promoting VIA Foronda Airport.
This route has been awarded by public tender after last month's departure for EUR 140,000 (VAT excluded), that is, almost EUR 170,000 in total. The competition provided for at least 35 flight frequencies.
At the end of the bid period, Volotea has been the only company that has submitted itself to exploit this connection in exchange for the financial assistance envisaged.
The VIA Society, consisting of the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Álava, the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz and the Chamber of Commerce, declares that the award has been made officially.
According to the advocacy organization, Menorca is an already established holiday destination, consistent with the potential demand of Vitoria-Gasteiz airport, and can contribute to strengthening air connection and diversifying supply during the summer season.
