By type of crime, there has been an increase in domestic violence 0 — which does not include partners or ex-partners — with a total of 298 victims until March, 11.6% more than the previous year, according to data collected by the Basque Institute for Women (Emakunde).
In the first three months of the year, 1,484 women reported assaults inthe Basque Country, mostly by partners, ex-partners or family members, an increase of 3% over the first quarter of 2025.
Seven out of ten women, 69.4 per cent, report assaults by their partners or ex-partners.
By type of crime, therehas been an increase in domestic violence — which does not include partners or ex-partners — with a total of 298 victims until March, 11.6% more than the previous year, according to data collected by the Basque Institute for Women (Emakunde).
There has also been an increase in violence by partners or ex-partners (+1%), with a total of 1030 assaults between January and March (1019 assaults in the same period last year).
Finally, 156 women were victims of acrime against sexual freedom , one more than in the same period of 2025 (+0.65%).
