Football player Rafa Mir has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for sexual assault and injury
A second defendant has been sentenced to two years in prison for sexual assault offences.
The Fourth Section of the Valencia Provincial High Court has sentenced footballer Rafa Mir to eight and a half years' imprisonment for a crime of sexual assault and a crime of injury, according to the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.
The second defendant, also a footballer and friend of Rafa Mir, has been sentenced to two years' imprisonment forsexual assault, moral integrity and minor injury.
The judgement notified to the parties on Monday - which is not yet final - provides compensation of EUR 64,000 in favour of Mir's victim and EUR 6,280 in favour of the complainant of the second defendant.
When he was left in Valencia
Rafa Mir grew up in the quarry of the Valencia CF and later signed up for the Wolverhampton Wanderers, from where he left for UD Las Palmas, Nottingham Forestra and SD Huesca. In 2021he joined Seville FC and has since been a player of that club and later played forValencia CF and Elche CF.
The facts now tried and convicted were inthe early morning of 1 September 2024 at his home in Bétera, Valencia. At the time of the events, Rafa Mir was playing in the Valencia CF, ceded by Sevilla FC. The transfer to Valencia was made official in July 2024.
