One person has died and another is missing after a cliff near the Biarritz lighthouse collapsed
The search for a missing person continues in Biarritz following the collapse of a piece of cliff near the lighthouse in the Labour town.
According to Atlantic Pyrenees authorities, the landslide occurred around 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday in an area under the Biarritz lighthouse near Miramar Beach, where much of the cliff fell into the sea when several people were in the water due to high daytime temperatures.
Emergency services have recovered the body of one of the victims and the operation continues to search for the second missing person. The affected area is cordoned off and closed to the public until further notice to facilitate rescue work and ensure safety.
