The main defendant for the murder of Lukas Aguirre has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, and the second defendant to nine and a half years

The main defendant who stabbed Lukas Aguirre to death on Christmas Day 2022, following an altercation at the exit of a discotheque in the centre of San Sebastián, has been sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment, while the second defendant tried as a necessary co-operative has been sentenced to nine and a half years' imprisonment.

According to reports, the third defendant tried for this crime, the woman accused of covering up the two men, has been sentenced to one year and two months in prison.

These convictions correspond to the verdict handed down by the popular jury following a three-week trial in the First Section of the Gipuzkoa Provincial High Court, which found the three accused guilty on 3 June.

According to the jury, the two men are the perpetrators of a crime of murder, one being the direct perpetrator and the other being the necessary co-operative.

However, the principal defendant was given a mitigating circumstance of responsibility for drug use, while the second defendant was granted two mitigating circumstances of criminal responsibility: double mental disorder and drug use, and the woman was also given a mitigating factor for drug use.
