Train service between Irun and Hernani will be suspended again from 25 July due to construction
To "ensure passenger mobility," Renfe will launch a road transport plan.
As a result of the construction of the third thread connecting the conventional railway network with the 'Y vasca', Renfe will make a number of changes to the service for the Guipuzcoan section between 25 July and 18 October.
Arrangements will be made on commuter, Medium and Long Distance journeys, the railway company reported in a statement.
These are the changes announced:
Commuter trains:
- On 25 and 26 July, the commuter trains of Donostia-San Sebastián will run only between Hernani and Beasain in both directions. The rest of the route will be by road: there will be bus service between Irun and Hernani and between Beasain and Brinkola.
- Between 25 July and 18 October, the railway service between Irun and Hernani will be suspended, during which time Renfe will set up a bus service between the railway stations of two towns: Hernani, Donostia-San Sebastián, Gros, Ategorrieta, Intxaurrondo, Herrera, Pasaia, Lezo-Rentería, Ventas de Irún and Irún.
- Between 7 September and 16 October, the Irun-Brinkola rail service will run from 4.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Outside this schedule, bus service and rail service will be combined.
Half-distance trains:
- The bus service between Irun and Andoain will take place from 27 July to 14 August, from 20 to 28 August and from 3 September to 18 October.
- The bus service between Araia and Irun will take place from 25 to 26 July, 15 to 19 August and 29 August to 2 September.
Long-distance trains:
- The trains connecting Gipuzkoa to Madrid will make the road stop between Irun and Tolosa or between Irun and Vitoria, in both directions, from 25 July to 19 October. Donostia, Tolosa or Zumarraga, depending on the works.
- The trains that get San Sebastián and Barcelona will make the journey between San Sebastián and Tolosa by road, depending on the works.
- Bus services will be installed that may affect train schedules.
