An Ironman contestant from Vitoria-Gasteiz, a 25-year-old British man, died this morning while taking part in the test.
The man felt unwell during the swimming test at the Ullibarri-Gamboa swamp and was rescued 41 metres from the shore around 8 a.m.
He was treated at the scene, but eventually died of a heart attack.
