The chairman of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, announced on Sunday morning that the Andalusian forest fire fighting group Infoca had stabilized the fire declared last Thursday in Los Gallardo (Almería), with at least 12 dead, and authorized the return of 1,000 people who were evicted from their homes as a result of this fire.
"Good news. After a few tough days, the Infoca Plan has stabilized #IFLosGallardos," the Andalusian president wrote in a message posted on the social network 'X' around 11.05 a.m.
The president has specified that "the fire is perimeter and restricted", so "it is de-escalated to operational situation 1, allowing the gradual return of the 1,000 people who have been evicted".
The fire left 12 dead and 18 injured , five of them in the intensive care unit.
Late this Saturday, the Junta de Andalucía authorized more than 600 people to "return" to the campsite in Los Castaños, Almocaizar, Alfaix and Los Gallardo and suspended the "confinement" in Lubrín.
The Government of Andalusia and the Government of Spain advanced on Saturday that the wind would drop significantly and the humidity would rise, and that the fire could be stabilized or controlled on Sunday.
