The fire in La Mierla, in Guadalajara, has burned 26,000 hectares, remains out of control and is spreading towards Soria

The fires continue to ravage the geography of the Iberian peninsula and there are very important active fires this Tuesday in Guadalajara and Aragon.

The most worrying fire at the moment is that of La Mierlain Guadalajara, which has already burned 26,000 hectares in six days, 68% of which is forest mass and 17% agricultural land.

Livestock farming is also a highly active area, where not only ecological damage but also economic damage can be enormous. Dozens of families live powerlessly in a fire that burns pastures and forces hundreds of cattle to move, endangering the work of entire generations.

Guadalajara is the largest fire on the peninsula since the beginning of the summer , and today, four times the area burned in the Los Gallardo fire in Almería, but fortunately without casualties.

This fire is becoming impossible to extinguish and continues to advance unchecked and 34 villages have already been evacuated and 14 others confined, affecting more than 1,200 people.

Moreover, the flames and smoke are already threatening some areas of theprovince of Soria, and it has been necessary to confine the inhabitants of several municipalities to their homes, while the 31 inhabitants of the Sorian town of Barcones have had to be evacuated because of the danger posed by the mere breathing in the village, where the air quality from the smoke is very poor.

On theone hand, the fire in the Cinco Villas region of Zaragoza, which has burned 15 600 hectares, continues to stabilize and evolve favourably, despite continuing efforts to extinguish it. The inhabitants of the six evicted villages, including those of Petilla Aragón in Navarre, have been able to return home on Monday.

However, attention is also focused today on Ejulve, in theprovince of Teruel, where a new fireon Monday had already devastated some 1,000 hectares, and the 232 inhabitants of Molinos had to be evacuated.

Today, coinciding with the arrival of a new heat wave , the risk of fire is very high in the centre and western half of the peninsula, except in areas off the Mediterranean coast.
