A large marijuana plantation on a farm in Fruiz has been dismantled
Two men have been arrested and more than 1,600 marijuana plants and 8.5 kilograms of hashish seized.
A large indoor plantation with more than 1,600 marijuana plants and 8.5 kilograms of hashish on a farm in Fruiz (Bizkaia) has been dismantled. The greenhouse has been intercepted thanks to a joint investigation by the Ertzaintza, the Tax Agency and the National Police, whichhas revealed that two men have been arrested in the police operation.
The Gernika Police Station and the National Police Force launched an investigation a few months ago into a suspect with a history of drug trafficking, who was led by police officers to a farm in Fruiz, where he was located along with another person.
At the same time, the Tax Agency also saw clear indications that cannabis was growing on that farm, so they launched the operation, and when they entered the farm with court permission, investigators found 1,602 marijuana plants at different stages of growth and flowering, as well as buds ready to be distributed.
Farm ready to produce drugs
The interiorof the farmhouse was fully fitted with soundproofed bedrooms, special ventilation systems, LED lamps and high-power filters, using cutting-edge technology to monitor plants, prevent the spread of odors and hide the noise.
The detainees are two men, the principal investigator, a 39-year-old Spaniard, and a 36-year-old Latin American national, who were inside the plantation. In the search of the main suspect's vehicle, another 4.4 kilograms of hashish resin ready for distribution were found.
The two men have been transferred to the Ertzaintza premises and all seized material has been placed at the disposal of the Gernika-Lumo Examining Court.
