Health asks not to be outdoors in Madrid for fire pollution

The Minister of Health, Mónica García, has asked not to remain in areas close to the fires in Madrid due to poor air quality, since the air has a value of PM2.5, which is suspended pollutant particles less than 2.5 micron in diameter.

These values "are much higher than those recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO)," explained García, who has asked to wear FFP2/95 masks and protective glasses in the event of eviction in almost all of Madrid.

The Department of Health also recommends seeking health care in the event of respiratory difficulties, chest pain or lack ofair, and keeping an eye on vulnerable people, being informed from official sources and following emergency service instructions.

Brown sky

Smoke and air masses of African origin have caused the Madrid sky to wake up this Saturday in a brown color, while the atmosphere smells like burning, so it is recommended not to make unnecessary trips and stay calm. 

As for the indoor spaces, the recommendations are to keep the house cool, close doors and windows to prevent smoke and shake dust so as not to disperse particles into the air.
