The threat of fires in Madrid is reduced, but the weather is expected to worsen due to heat

Night firefighting work affecting the Community of Madrid has been "effective" against active fronts and has reduced the "threat" , although they remain out of control, given the forecast of worsening weather conditions for the next few hours, as confirmed by sources from the government delegation.

In the fires north of the region, heavy machinery, means of extinction and technical fire have been used to preventthe fire from reaching Valdemaqueda.

Emergency Services 112 of the Community of Madrid have indicated that 50 ground vehicles have worked throughout the night, whose work has been optimistic in the vicinity of the Cofio River, the most critical area at the moment.

  
The Spanish Government has stressed that the effort made on that front on Monday "withthe massive use of air assets - seven hydroplanes and four helicopters - and the concentration of land resources, with more than 400 troops during the night, has made it possible to minimise the threat ". However, the fire has not yet been controlled and conditions are changing as weather conditions are expected to escalate.

Thus, efforts will focus this Tuesday on surveillance and on refreshing areas instead of fighting the front, as temperaturesare expected to rise with the arrival of the new heat wave this Wednesday.
