The stabilisation of the Gironda fire will allow the extension of the A63 motorway between the Basque Country and Bordeaux. However, high-speed train traffic from the SNCF railway company between Hendaia and Bordeaux is still suspended.
The A63 motorway will be reopened at 14:00 in Bayona to Bordeaux, according to the Prefecture of Gironda (France) on Thursday. Since last weekend, the motorway linking the Basque Country with Bordeaux has been cut off by the firein Gironda, which has stabilised in the last few hours and will allow the movement of vehicles to be restored.
However, train traffic from Bordeaux to the south is still cut off, high-speed trains are stopped and there are no services, for example, to Hendaia, Arcachon and Tarbes.

The Gironda Prefecture has posted a message on social media that the fire, which has burned at least 42,000 hectares in Gironda, remains stabilized and that the night has been "relatively quiet."
Firefighters are trying to perimeter the fire and extinguish the six still active hotspots, especially in the Crohot-Le Porge area and south of Lake Lacanau.
With weather conditions, the authorities hope to make progress in fighting the fires.
