A man died after falling off a balcony in Estella as he fled the police after an alleged case of gender-based violence
The deceased fell from a fourth floor when, according to the investigation, he was trying to cross from one balcony to another when the officers arrived at a flat in the square of Santiago, where a woman reported an attack.
A man died this morning in Estella when he fell from a fourth floor of a flat in PlazaSantiago, allegedly trying to escape the police after receiving a warning about an alleged case of gender-based violence.
According to the Estella Municipal Police, the events took place around 02:15, when SOS Navarra received a call from a woman warning that she was being assaulted in a house in the Plaza de Santiago.
The officers went to the house and, as they climbed into the house, a man fell from a balcony and suffered injuries incompatible with life , where he died.
The first hypothesis under investigation is that the man was trying to escape police intervention, passing from one balcony to another, when he fell from the fourth floor.
After the incident, the area was cordoned off and the Plaza de Santiago evacuated.
The Judicial Police of the Foral Police have taken over the proceedings to clarify the circumstances of the incident and to determine the exact sequenceof the events.
