North Euskal Herria Fire Brigade Protest for Greater Resources
The Iparralde Fire Department has protested this Thursday in demand of greater resources , with a day of strike and the announcement of a new stoppage on 29 September if the French Government does not respond to them, following a meeting with the Minister of the Interior, Laurent Núñez.
Franck Damestoy, a member of the UNSA union, works at the Anglet fire station and has explained that they want more human and technical resources, as well as a better knowledge of the profession to be able to deal adequately withincreasing and growing fires.
They also call for a review of the full functioning of Civil Security in the face of climate change, because, he recalls, every year a colleague dies fighting the flames, and this year, for example, he regrets that four firefighters have died in this task.
