A man is being investigated in Bizkaia for his alleged involvement in false sales of puppies
The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by a neighbour of Cuenca, but the damage has been detected in more provinces.
The Civil Guard investigates a Biscayan for his alleged involvement in an 'online' scam through false advertisements for the sale of puppies. The investigator would act as the holder of the bank account used to collect the money from the scam and the investigation has detected damage in several Spanish provinces.
According to the Bizkaia Command, the investigation was initiated following a complaint by a neighbour of the province of Cuenca who, after locating on a website an advertisement for the sale of a puppy, made transfers of 800 euros through the immediate payment system, from which point the alleged seller cut off all communicationsbut did not deliver the animal.
The Civil Guard has analysed the telephone lines and bank accounts used in the fraud and focused its investigations on the holder of the account receiving the money, who is charged with alleged involvement in the events.
The proceedings have been brought before the Civil Division and the Investigation Division of the Acting Guard Court of Barakaldo (Bizkaia).
Safe shopping
In order to avoid this type of fraud, the Civil Guard recalls the importance of extreme caution when making purchases on the Internet, especially when requiring early payment, and recommends checking the authenticity of the seller, distrusting particularly attractive offers and using platforms that offer guarantees for buyers and sellers.
