A man was arrested early Sunday morning in Getxo (Bizkaia) on charges of sexually assaulting a young woman during the Puerto Viejo festivities, according to the City Council.
In a statement, the Getxo City Council expressed its "strongest condemnation "of the events and condemned "any aggression caused by sexist attitudes based on gender inequality . "
She has shown solidarity and support for the young woman, while calling on the getxotarras to "reject all aggression against women and not accept behaviour that offends women and is the basis for gender-based violence".
