Pamplona Municipal Police believe the driver committed a human error in the Navarrería truck accident
On the 28th of June , an A0beira pickup truck fell down the slope without a driver and hit five women, one of whom died and four others were seriously injured.
According to the police report sent to the court, the driver left the cockpit, along with the other two workers, with the vehicle stuck and the hand brake unactivated.
At first, the driver stated that he had activated the hand brake before getting out of the vehicle, but then stated that he did not remember clearly whether it had affected him.
The truck started coming down from Navarrería.
The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on June 28. The glass pickup truck, operated by the Emmaus Traitors, stopped near the Mommy Bar in Cathedral Square, where the Navarrería Street ends.
The driver, who had been working for years, got out of the vehicle with two other workers, and shortly afterwards the truck began to move downhill, without anyone being behind the wheel.
In the first few yards he advanced at little speed, but from 33 Navarrería Street, where the slope is sharper, the vehicle began to gain speed.
Then the driver tried to stop the truck and got into the cockpit when the vehicle was moving, but was unable to take control before reaching the area where a group of people were.
About 50 meters of travel.
The truck drove about 50 meters out of control down Navarrería Street, pulled out some bars and pipes along the route and, a few metres from the Los Burgos bar in Pamplona, hit a group of women.
Some of the victims were trapped under the vehicle and had to be rescued by emergency services.
