The summer is hot and dry in the Basque Country, and water restrictions have been imposed on several Alavese municipalities and councils to ensure supply, such as Salvatierra, Alegría-Dulantzi, Elburg, Urkabustaiz or Zuia.
In the case of Zuia, they take water from the Baias River. Because of the drought, their flow has dropped considerably, and that's why they're having trouble, so the City Council is working to connect them to the Zadorra reservoir network and get the supply.
In Urkabustaiz they are also dependent on the Baias River, and yesterday the City Council again called on the population to reduce consumption as much as possible.
