Ministry of Health and communities agree to send 25,000 vaccines to Ceuta
Ceuta will receive 15,000 doses of triple viral and another 10,000 doses of diphtheria, tetanus, chickenpox and polio to vaccinate migrant minors arriving at the end of July.
On Monday, the Spanish Ministry of Health met with the Autonomous Communities at the Committee on Public Health to discuss the situation following the massive influx of migrants from 30 July. At the meeting, it was agreed to formally activate the intercommunity solidarity mechanism , which will send 15,000 doses of triple viral and another 10,000 doses of diphtheria, tetanus, chickenpox and polio.
Sources from the Ministry of Health have stressed that the situation in Ceuta is not a public health emergency, but they have identified prevention as necessary and have therefore activated this mechanism to administer 25,000 doses .
Communities such as Aragon and Cantabria have advanced that they will administer their stored doses to Ceuta, although the Government of Aragon has questioned how the Ministry will manage such massive vaccination.
The response to this public health crisis coincides, as of today, with the visit to Ceuta of a delegation of technicians from the Ministry of Health whose arrival has taken place in a scenario where the lack of vaccines and the extreme pressure on professionals is on the table, where the official medical and nursing colleges continue to report that the workforce is in a very extreme situation.
This situation has led to a clash of views following a visit a week ago by the Minister of Health, Monica Garcia, who denied that there was a "health collapse."
