Bilbao's Big Week this year recorded the largest number of visitors in its history: more than 2 million people

Bilbao's 46 Big Week has been the most crowded in its history, with more than two million visitors in nine days, breaking last year's record of 500,000 people, according to the provisional balance sheet made this Sunday by the mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto.
Aburto has also pointed out that there have been fewer crimes and more arrests than last year, with a total of 243 persons arrested or investigated by the Ertzaintza and the Bilbao Municipal Police, compared with 228 last year, and 1,006 proceedings (1,060 in 2025).
More than half of these procedures have been for theft (700). However, the robberies last year (743) were less than . In addition, 624 kilos of food was seized, three times more than last year.
More than 500 alcohol tests and 80 drug tests have been carried out, with fewer positive tests.
Asfar as cleaning is concerned, more waste has been generated, namely 553 tonnes, but more than half of that tonne has been properly separated.
