A man arrested in Bilbao to search vehicles and commit crimes for usurping the identity of a young man

The Ertzaintza has arrested in Bilbao a 26-year-old man  whohas opened proceedings as an investigator for six other persons suspected of being part of a vehicle registration network created in the name of a young man whose identity was usurped in order to keep the actual users of these vehicles hidden, cars used to commit crimes and which also committed numerous offences attributed to the victim.

At the beginning of this year, the Ertzaintza launched an investigation after sending a letter from a court in Bilbao requesting an investigation into a complaint received in which the victim, a 21-year-old, stated that he was being fined for trafficfrom vehicles with which he had no driving licence but had no connection. 

As a result of the investigations carried out, it was confirmed that the complainant was associated with at least 10 vehicles, some of which were owned and others were charged with using these vehicles as drivers in penalties and road accidents.

The proceedings made it possible to identify a man who was buying and selling vehicles and who, instead of taking ownership of them, was transferring them to the victim, who was then used in various criminal acts (robberies, defaults at petrol stations...) and involved in traffic accidents, and nearly a hundred traffic offences were committed, holding the victim responsible.

After the relevant proceedings have been completed, the detainee, who has a police record and has already been arrested, shall be brought before the court.
