Where and when can I get the flu vaccine?
During this campaign, Osakidetza has tried to bring vaccination closer to the population through vaccination centres, where those who want to be vaccinated can do so without an appointment.
The Department of Health of the Basque Government and Osakidetza have today presentedthe flu vaccination campaign on Thursday.
Under the slogan "Taking care of yourself is also taking care of others. Integrate yourself", the Department of Health of the Basque Government and Osakidetza have prioritized early vaccination in risk groups, i.e. in children between 6 months and 5 years of age, over 60 years of age, health professionals, at-risk patients, pregnant women and vulnerable children.
The main purpose of this campaign is to bring vaccination closer to the population through vaccination centres . Therefore, among others, in Bilbao, Donostia-San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz vaccination centres will be available, places enabled to be vaccinated without prior appointment.
Schedule of the flu campaign
- 28 September: residences and children under 5 years of age
- 5 October: risk groups
- 19-1 October: Vaccinations
- 2 November: The ordination will be widespread for the entire population
- 31 December - 31 March: end of campaign
What are vaccines?
This year, between 19 October and1 November , vaccination centres will be opened for those who wish to be vaccinated without prior appointment.
In the capitals of the Basque Country (Bilbao, San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz), will be open from Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 20:00; except in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where it will open the weekend from 09:00 to 21:00; in the other Integrated Services Organizations (OSIs), vaccination centres will open from Monday to Friday from 15:00 to 20:00.
Hazelnuts may also be vaccinated at vaccination sites.
Phone appointments.
Those who wish to make a telephone appointment must call the health centre or outpatient centre, as well as the Osakidetza website and app.
In the case of people over 80, they will receive a telephone call offering a vaccination appointment.

Current influenza incidence
The current incidence of influenza in the Basque Country is still at an early stage, with values similar to those of last year, with 4.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the area of primary care, while the rate of hospitalization recorded with the diagnostic code for influenza is 0.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
