European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will meet US President Donald Trump in Scotland on Sunday before imposing tariffs on European products on August 1, a few days before the end of the ultimatum given by the US president.
Von der Leyen has closed his meeting with Trump following a "good" phone call, as explained by the President of the Commission in a note published in Account X, in which he explained that both leaders will discuss "trade relations and ways to strengthen them."
Before leaving for Scotland, Trump said today that the European Union has a very useful opportunity to reach an agreement before the deadline of 1 August .
"I think the European Union has a very good chance of reaching an agreement," Trump said at a press conference before leaving for Scotland.
Trade spokesman for the European Union , Olof Gill, stressed last Thursday that he saw the agreement "close," immersed in "the technical and political negotiations that are taking place every day."
