Two motions of censure against the government of the macronist Sébastien Lecornu have failed
Marine Le Pen's extreme right has supported the motion tabled by the left-wing LFI, but has nevertheless won 271 votes, below the 289 needed to advance, while the motion tabled by the National Association of Le Pen has won 144 votes.
The two motions of censure tabled by the left of Insumisa France (LFI) and the extreme right of Marine Le Pen against the second government of Sébastien Lecornu have not won enough support in the National Assembly to bring down the macronist .
the LFI motion, supported by the extreme right of Marine Le Pen, has won 271 votes, below the 289 needed to move forward, while the motion submitted by the National Association of Le Pen has won 144 votes.
The LFI, the Communists, the Greens, and the extreme right had already announced their support for the LFI motion, while the Republicans, and especially the Socialist Party, have generally taken the opposite path.
Thus, the National Assembly has only rejected by a narrow margin of eighteen votes the motion of censure tabled by the LFI against the government, thanks to the Socialist Party's decision to give Lecornu a chance. This support has not been given to him by the Socialists, who in return have promised to suspend pension reform until January 2028 (at least until after the presidential elections scheduled for spring 2027).
