Iran has insisted that the ceasefire agreement with the United States takes into account "all fronts, including Lebanon "of the war, a message that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghtxi released this morning on social media following the latest Israeli attacks in the Beirut area.
Araghchi has claimed that Israel is constantly violating the April 8 agreement and has warned that these attacks "will have consequences. " Iran has said that the "main obstacle" to reaching an agreement with the United States is Israel's offensive against Lebanon.
U.S. President Donald Trump, however, has explained that Iran wants to reach an agreement, which he has said will come soon again.
Bombings in Lebanon
This morning, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu issued a direct order to attack the neighborhoods of southern Beirut where Hezbollah is part of the pro-Iran militia.
Thousands upon thousands of people have already begun to flee from these neighborhoods to northern Lebanon.
As reported late last week, negotiators in Tehran and Washington reached a pre-agreement to unblock the Strait of Hormuz and extend the ceasefire.
This agreement, however, was to be approved by Trump, who requested the amendment of several points in the draft.
However, Iran denied from the outset that it had concluded a pre-agreement with USA.
EU request
The European Union has once again called on Israel to ceaseits offensive in Lebanon and to respect the sovereignty of that country. "We call on Israel to cease its attacks in Lebanon and to respect the sovereignty and territoriality of Lebanon," said EU Foreign Action Service spokesman U00A0Anouar al-Anouni at a hearing this morning.
He said that Europe is working through diplomatic channels to reduce the "tension" in Lebanon and to channel the solution through dialogue.
