More than a thousand people have died in Nepal as a result of the floods, and 3900 people have disappeared

On Tuesday, the Nepalese authorities accounted for more than a thousand deaths from the major floods last week, while reducing the number of missing persons to about 3,900, including 583 foreigners.

Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority says 1,003 bodieshave been recovered so far, 321 in Chitwan, 216 in eastern Nawalparasi and 170 in western Nawalparasi.

It also details that 3,916 people arestill missing , including 639 workers from a flooded hydroelectric power plant .  This figure is below the balance sheet released on Monday by the same body, which increased the number of missing persons from 2,502 to 4,247 in less than 24 hours.

Rescue work

On the other hand, the emergency services have managed to rescue 11,814 people, including 253 foreigners.

The organization has counted 279 wounded , 168 of whom have already been discharged, while more than 21,000 search and rescue personnel are involved in the delivery of humanitarian aid to some of those affected.

These figures are in addition to at least 16 deaths and 550 missing persons on Chinese territory, including 261 foreigners, according to Asian authorities, who have also recovered three bodies in India.
