A group of UN experts this Friday expressed their dismay at Israel 's "almost daily" bombing and drone attacks on Lebanon, despitetheceasefire signed by both countries in November 2024.
Since its entry into force, the Israeli Defense Forces have carried out more than500 air strikes in thearea, according to against Hezbollah . "Repeated Israeli attacks and partial occupation of Lebanese territory have hit schools, health centres and places of worship, preventing civilians from regaining their normal lives," the expert group has reported.
In this context, the UN Human Rights Office has confirmed the deaths of 108 civilians in Lebanon, 37 of whom are women and children, and experts have warned that Israeli action is contrary to the efforts of the Lebanese authorities to disarm all Lebanese armed groups.
Human rights experts have also expressed concern about the lack of response and cooperation of the Israeli Government and its "continuing disregard for international law", which has made" very little progress "in its willingness to withdraw from southern Lebanon.
More than 80,000 people remain in Lebanon, unable to return to their homes, while 30,000 remain in northern Israel.
