Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to consider resuming nuclear testing and has asked his government partners for a report at the extraordinary meeting of the Security Council S on television.
Russia has made this announcement after US President Donald Trump last week put on the table the possibility of atomic weapons tests.
The Russian president has said that the Kremlin will maintain its policy of not conducting nuclear tests while "other powers do the same."

Putin has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Special Services and Civil Agencies to consider the matter in order to make a decision in the Security Council and plan the possible start of these tests.
The United States last conducted nuclear tests in 1992, China and France in 1996, and the Soviet Union in 1990. The post-Soviet Russia, despite its nuclear arsenal inherited from earlier times, has never done so.
