The CELAC-UE summit begins
Nine Heads of State and Government met this Sunday at the Fourth Summit between the Community of American and Caribbean States and the European Union.
The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU)Summit IV has begun, attended by only nine Heads of State and Government, according to official sources.
Although energy, digital and environmental decisions are on the table, recent US attacks in the Caribbean and the Pacific will mark the summit.
The summit will be chaired bythePresident of Colombia, Gustavo Petro , and the European Council, Antonio Costa . It will be a one-day meeting, although the event is scheduled until Monday.
However, the start of the summit has been marked by a last-minute mistake, as only the Heads of State and Government 12 have confirmed their presence, of the 60 guests, so the rest will be replaced by Vice-Presidents, Foreign Ministers and other senior officials.
The Spanish Government, however, has confirmed the presence of Pedro Sánchez.
