Ten people sentenced to up to eight months in prison for cyber harassment of Brigitte Macron
The Paris Correctional Court has sentenced 10 people for cyberbullying against Brigitte Macron and sentenced them to four to eight months' imprisonment, which they will only serve in cases of recidivism, except for one of the defendants, who will have to be imprisoned for failing to stand trial.
In addition, convicted persons must pay EUR 10 000 in solidarity for the moral damage caused to the First Lady and EUR 600 for the costs of trials, as well as conduct online awareness courses on respect and cyberharassment.
The ruling also provides for the prohibition of standing for election for two years and, for four of them, the suspension of access to digital accounts used for harassment for six months.
The judges have found it proven that they deliberately spread insidious messages and lies, including that Brigitte Macron was born a man, which damaged her health and her family environment.
