Israel says it will control "a security zone" in southern Lebanon as far as the Litani River
The Israeli Defence Minister has stated that the hundreds of thousands of citizens evacuated from southern Lebanon to the north will not return until the security of those living in northern Israel is guaranteed.

The Israeli Army will establish a "security zone" from southern Lebanon to the Litani River, as confirmed this morning by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz. In this context, it has destroyed five bridges over the Litani River in southern Lebanon.
"The Israeli Army has destroyed the five bridges that Hezbollah used to carry terrorists and weapons and will control the remaining bridges to the Litani River," Katz added after Israel launched the land invasion of Lebanon.
