Zelenski calls on European leaders to join the EU 'as soon as possible'
Ukraine's president has appreciated the unblocking of European funds in Kiev, stating that this is a "very important" decision for his country.

Ukraine's President Volodimir Zelenski has urged European leaders to start the process of joining the EU "as soon as possible."
Zelensky, who attended the informal summit of EU Heads of State and Government in Cyprus, has met, among others, with the Presidents of theEuropean Council and the European Commission, Antonio Costa and Ursula von der Leyen, respectively, where he has told them that the Ukrainians have already made the decision to remain in the EU, but that it is not up to them.
The 27 Europeans have today agreed to unlockthe EUR 90 billion fund in Kiev by circumventing the veto imposed by Hungary. The decision was taken unanimously and Zelensky thanked them. 'It is a very important decision for us to have unanimously adopted ,' he said.
Costa and the other European leaders have also called at the summit for the next step, once the funds have been unblocked, to formally begin the process of negotiating Ukraine's accession to the EU.
The Ukrainian president has said that the EUR 90,000 will be used to strengthen the army and improve energy infrastructure .
