NATO leaders meet in Ankara to discuss defense spending and Ukraine
NATO The heads of government of the 32 countries that make up the North Atlantic Treaty Organization will meet today and tomorrow in the Turkish capital, Ankara, to discuss defence spending and support for Ukraine.
The NATO summit will take place at a tense time, when US President Donald Trump has accused European allies of not spending enough on defense, after last year's summit agreed to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035.
Trump is also angry with European NATO member countries for not helping the US in the war in Iran and not leaving their military bases.
He therefore announced the withdrawal of 5,000 troops from German bases.
