Burnham takes over as prime minister in the UK, promising a "new political and economic model"

Andy Burnham took office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on Monday after being commissioned to form a government by King Charles III, promising to promote "a new political model and a new economic model" for the country.

Burnham is expected to announce members of his first government in the next few hours.
