The Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, has reported the death of a Spaniard of dual nationality as a result of the earthquake that struck Colombia on Monday,whilethe number of unhanged Spaniards has fallen from 75 to 12.
The 7.4-degree earthquake on the Richter scale has left 273 dead and 3,900 injured in north-west Colombia, according to local authorities.
Albaras has detailed that the first emergency aid package of EUR 1 million to the "brotherly people" of Colombia, which includes protective equipment, water and sanitation kits and assistance to health workers, is operational.
The earthquake had as its epicenter the town of San José del Palmar in the Pacific department of Choco, with 377 missing, 40,753 families affected, 12,584 homes destroyed and 74,873 damaged.
