Merz promises to punish those responsible for the country's latest drone attacks
German authorities reported on Tuesday the discovery of a third drone near Leipzig airport, where two other artifacts loaded with explosives were found earlier this month.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Tuesday that Germany has become the target of hybrid attacks in the last year, the latest incident involving a drone loaded with explosives at Leipzig airport, which has promised that those responsible will "pay" for their actions.
Research so far has determined that this third drone was found on August 14 in the area west of the airfield.
Police had previously announced the appearance of the first two drones loaded with explosives, one in the cargo aircraft area and the other next to a Ukrainian Antonov aircraft, where technicians found the remains of a large explosive material, although the cargo did not explode.
Merz has strongly assured that Berlin will "respond" to those responsible for the hybrid attacks on the country. The government has avoided explicitly mentioning Russia as a "foreign power" instead. However, German security environments claim to be assured that the Russian secret services have been involved in planning sabotage.
Leipzig Airport is the nerve point for the shipment of weapons, especially for the war in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Germany has recorded a significant increase in drone attacks and observations of military installations.
Although Merz did not want to point the finger directly at the perpetrators, he has ensured that Germany will continue to help Ukraine , clarifying that the aim is not to prolong the war, but to promote "peace negotiations."
