There will be rain and storm warnings in Hego Euskal Herria this Saturday

Instability will increase this Saturday in the Basque Country and Navarre, where rain and storm are expected. Showers can be locally strong and accompanied by hail and intense wind streams. Temperatures will also drop throughout the day.

In the Basque Country, the Basque Government's Department of Safety will activate at 5 p.m. the yellow warning for heavy rains in Álava, which will be in effect until midnight. Moderate and stormy showers are expected, which can be locally strong. At some points on the Mediterranean side, more than 15 litres of water can be accumulated in an hour per square metre; especially in the south of the territory, where they can exceed 20 litres per hour.

In addition, there is a risk of hail of up to 1-2 centimetres, and wind gusts can reach speeds of between 40 and 60 kilometres per hour.

Yellow notice in Gipuzkoa, early morning

The notice will pass to Gipuzkoa in the early morning of Sunday, specifically from 00:00 to 09:00, due to the risk of heavy rains.

During this period, more than 15 litres of water per square metre can be accumulated in one hour at some points, especially in the eastern part of Gipuzkoa, where rainfall can be more intense, and where more than 20 litres can be accumulated on time.

According to Euskalmet, instability will increase on Saturday in the Basque Country and temperatures will drop, with fairly cloudy skies at times and the possibility of weak rains in the morning on the cantabrian side, while in the afternoon the risk of storms will increase, especially in the south.

Orange warning in the Bank of Navarre

In Navarre, the Spanish Meteorology Agency (Aemet) will activate the orange warning for rains and storms in the Ribera from 14:00 to 22:00, while in the central area of Navarre the yellow warning will be activated simultaneously due to the same phenomena.

Cloudy northern skies, with the possibility of fog and fog banks in high areas both in the morning and afternoon, and cloudy intervals in the rest of Navarre, increasing cloud cover from noon onwards, with rain and storm showers in the afternoon.

In some areas the showers can be locally strong and hail in the centre and south.

Temperatures will drop, and the drop could be noticeable in the central highs of Navarre. Thermometers will range between 18 and 33 degrees in Estella and Pamplona, between 15 and 32 degrees in Roncal, and between 22 and 31 degrees in Tudela.

Storms in the north and southwest of France

In the north and south-west of France, stormy activity is also expected to increase in the afternoon, with storms expected to develop, according to the Météo-France forecast.
