A short film by Marina Xarri in the Nest selection
In the 73rd edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival, 14 short films will form the Nest section, the section that the festival devotes to students from film schools.
A total of 473 proposals have been submitted from 220 schools in 57 countries, and work has finally been selected from schools in the Basque Country, Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, Spain, the United States, France, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Sweden and Switzerland.
Among them will be Habitat Hotel, ,short film by the Basque filmmaker Marina Xarri, and A solidäo dos lagartos, short film by the Portuguese Inês Nunes at the Elias Querejeta Film School in San Sebastian, premiered at the Cannes Festival.
From 22 to 26 September, the fourteen selected filmmakers will present their works, attend interviews with filmmakers and meet with industry professionals and opt for the 10,000 euro prize.

MENDIFILM, 18th edition of the Bilbao International Mountain Festival
The Euskalduna Palace will be the main venue of the festival and from 5 to 14 December 55 films will be shown, 12 of them Basque productions. At the opening ceremony of the festival you will be able to see "Entre Juan y Juanito" , a film directed by Javier Alvaro about Juanito Oiarzabal. Bestalde, film by Luis Arrieta, created thanks to last year's Mountain Film Scholarship .

Zinebi presents the documentary "Llámame sinsorga"

The 67 edition of Zinebi has begun at the Arriaga Theatre with a nod to the rise of Bilbao's filming, musical performances and the presentation of novelties. Paul Urkijo tells us about the mythological creatures and legends that are renewed and honoured in the night film: Gaueko, Inguma, Mateo Txistu, Akerbeltz... The objects and legends collected by Father Barandiaran, the rituals to repel witchcraft, the phrases and legends related to witchcraft... Urkijo explores the Basque tradition in his third feature film.
