Popel, looking for the ashes of the Nazi victims
Oier Plaza compiles the story of František Suchitch and his son in the documentary that can be seen today in the cinemas Aurrera: They hid the ashes of 2,000 Nazi victims to protect the humanity of those killed.

The documentary by gernikarra Oier Plaza, Popel (ashes), arrives in the cinemas today with distributor Barton Flims. In a 90-minute work that combines real images with Kote Camacho's animations, František tells the story of the director of the crematorium furnace in Such￮ strašnic, Prague.
After reading the novel El impostor, Professor Unai Eguía opened an investigation to find out what happened to Enrica, a Catalan republican deported to the Nazi camp of Hradišt, Enric Moner. At the same time, Antón Gandarias is investigating his uncle Anjel Lekuona, captured in exile by the Gestapo.
This is how František will know the story of Suchitch and his son, who risked their lives to save the ashes of the 2,000 victims of Nazism who secretly collected the names and surnames of the victims, instead of their ashes they handed over other ashes and kept their remains safe.
This co-production between the Basque Country, France and the Czech Republic was projected at the San Sebastian Film Festival and has the participation of EITB.
