The municipal government of Vitoria-Gasteiz (PSE-EE and PNV, in coalition) has announced that it will study whether Korrika meets the conditions for receiving subsidies. The announcement was made at today's plenary session by the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Employment, Trade and Tourism, Maria Nanclares, after discussing a motion tabled by the PP on the subject.
24. The Groupof the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats has today taken to plenary the request to withdraw the subsidy to the AEK initiative on the occasion of the display of photos of ETA prisoners along the Korrika route.
Nanclares, the socialist councillor, has censured the display of photos of ETA prisoners and has announced that they will examine whether the case complies with the general ordinance on subsidies. He has explained that an article of the ordinance expressly mentions that associations that promote or justify violence, terrorism or hatred may not receive public aid.
The aid received by Korrika is EUR 4 000.
