The judge in the Plus Ultra case has opened a new investigation against former Spanish President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in connection with the jewellery found in his search of his office in Ferraz. Specifically, he investigates whether he has committed smuggling and tax offences.
The judge of the National High Court has ordered the disclosure of a separate piece of the Plus Ultra case concerning jewellery worth an estimated 1.3 million euros.
According to the secretary who witnessed the police search of Zapatero's office on the day of his arrest, these are odd things that Zapatero's wife has inherited.
On 17 and 18 June, Zapatero will testify as an investigator before Judge Calama of the National High Court, who must explain the rescue of the airline Plus Ultra and the origin of the jewels.
