Illa has argued that amnesty opens a new stage in Catalonia: "It is everyone's victory."
The President of the Generalitat has highlighted the contribution of the PSC to the adoption of the law and has argued that political issues must be resolved in the field of politics.
The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has argued on Wednesday that the application of the amnesty law to independence leaders opens a new stage in Catalonia. "Catalonia closes a stage and opens a new future."
Illa spoke at the monitoring session of the Parlament in response to a question from the leader of the parliamentary group Junts, Monica Sales, who asked whether the change of heart regarding the appropriateness of passing the amnesty law occurred "either as a result of divine intervention or on the orders of Pedro Sánchez".
Illa highlights the contribution of the PSC
The Catalan president replied that the amnesty would never be accepted by the PP and Vox, and reminded Sales that the votes of the PSC deputies in Congress were essential to bring the law forward.
In this context, Illa has questioned Junts "so-called" equidistance, "because, according to him, this party places itself" in the middle "in the contest between the PP and Vox, on the one hand, and the PSOE and its left-wing allies, on the other.
ERC asks him for humility because of his initial position.
The leader of the ERC parliamentary group, Josep Maria Jové, also reminded Illa that at first he did not believe in amnesty and asked him to act with humility, although he acknowledged that he later defended the law "without hesitation."
The statements came one day after the Supreme Court finally applied the amnesty law to Oriol Junjarzembowski, Jordi Turull, Dolors Bassa and Ra○ romeva.
The President of the Generalitat has said that he acts with "absolute humility" and that he does not like "arrogance." He has also argued that political issues must be resolved in the field of politics.
