Lluís Puig returns to Catalonia and will take up his seat at the Parlament today
The former Junts Culture Conseller, who has spent nine years away from Catalonia following the referendum on October 1, 2017, will speak this Thursday in the plenary of the Parlament, where he will be received by House President Josep Rull.
Lluís Puig, who has returned to Catalonia, will return this Thursday to his seat as Junts' deputy at the Parlament after nine years away from Catalonia following the referendum on October 1, 2017.
The exconseller of Culture announced his return early Wednesday morning through a message posted on social network X. "The time has come, today I am going to attend the Cants de la Llibertat in Terrassa, my village where I was born and lived until nine years ago, and tomorrow, to Parliament, from where I left on October 27, 2017," he wrote.
Thus, Puig will go to the Parlament this Thursday, where he will be able to speak in plenary this week.
Rull will receive you at the entrance to Parliament.
The President of the Parlament, Josep Rull, explained in statements to RAC1 that he will receive Puig at the entrance of the chamber around 3 p.m. and then the Bureau of the Parlament will receive him.
As he has done before when a Member has been on leave, Rull plans to give the floor before the start of the plenary session.
"He was not absent by chance, but as a result of a clear political and judicial persecution," the President of Parliament said.
Arrest warrants overturned by the Supreme Court
Puig's return follows the decision taken on Monday by Supreme Court Judge Pablo Llarena, who overturned the arrest warrants against Puig, former Generalitat President Carles Puigdemont and exconseller Toni Comín, but has not yet applied the amnesty law to all three.
The yellow tape will be removed from Parliament's hemicycle
This Thursday, too, the yellow tape will be removed from the Parlament hemicycle, which has been there since the beginning of the parliamentary term to recall the absence of Puig and the other Junts Member, Carles Puigdemont.
