Etchegaray and Blanco will take office today as mayor of Bayonne and Biarritz
In the second round of the municipal elections in Iparralde, the mayors elected in 11 municipalities have taken office in recent days. This morning, Jean-René Etchegaray and Serge Blanco will receive the baton of command from Baiona and Biarritz respectively. Yesterday it was the turn of the mayors of Kanbo and Hendaya , Peio Etxeleku and Kotte Ecenarro.
Jean-Rene Etchegarayknows perfectly well the house of the people of Bayonne, where he has been litigating for the past 12 years. The centrist candidate will hold office for another six years , having won 50.70% of the votes in the votes of March 22.
For the well-known former ruby player Serge Blanco, however, it will be the first time in the series, with 41.92% of the support won by the hitherto mayor of Biarritz , Maider Arosteguy.
They'll both be sworn in today.
Yesterday Peio Etxeleku and Kotte Ecenarro had time to do so, respectively, in Kanbo and Hendaya.
The jeltzale Etxeleku will act for the first time in the Mayor's Office of Kanbo, but he knows the town house closely, since six years ago he was elected Councilman Christian Deveze now on the list of the right-hand man. But this time, he made his own list and won the election with 46% of the votes.
Ecenarro is a veteran socialist in the village house of Endaia, where he won his fourth term in the second round on March 22 thanks to 44.31% of the votes.
With these admonitions, the next important meeting will be held in Iparralde on April 11, when the President of the Collegeof the Basque Country will be voted on. It is a spectacle who is running for the presidency, including the current leader Etchegaray, the jeltzale Peio Etxeleku or the candidate of EH Bai for Baiona, Claude Iriart.
