Álava and Gipuzkoa approve the introduction of a tourist fee
Bizkaia approved it last Monday, so the new tax will begin to be levied in the three historic territories of the ACV from 1 January 2027.
The General Meetings of Álava and Gipuzkoa approved on Wednesday, following the agreement reached in May between the PNV, the PSE-EE and Podemos, a tax on tourist stays that has been added to the votes of jeltzales, socialists and purple parties.
Thus, three territories of the Basque Autonomous Community will begin to levy the new tax from 1 January 2027. The Byzantine chamber last Monday gave the green light to the foral standard.
At the General Meetings of Álava, the tax was supported by PNV, PSE-EE, Elkarrekin Podemos and EH Bildu, while PP and Vox voted against.
In Gipuzkoa, too, PNV, PSE-EE, Elkarrekin Podemos and EH Bildu voted in favour, while the PP abstained.
