Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts

"Balerdi. The Infinite Line" opens the recently restored Cabinet Exhibition Space of the museum, which brings together more than 50 works by the artist.

43 rooms and renovated spaces at the Museum of Fine Arts have returned with 150 pieces never exhibited.

After Norman Foster's visit and today's official opening, it will open tomorrow to the general public, with free admission until October 13.

Once the expansion has been completed, and after the official opening, the doors will be reopened on Tuesday, October 6-13.

Architect Norman Foster summarizes the expansion of the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts in one idea: "The really important thing is what you don't see," referring to the facilities that allow the building to be heated without a visible trace.

Upon completion of the expansion, the entrance to the museum will be free from 6 to 13 October.

Plácido Arango will be the main protagonist in the reopening of the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts, thanks to an exhibition given by his children and organized in collaboration with the Prado Museum. Erakusketa will open on October 5 at the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts, after completing the expansion of the building.

Reproductions of 38 works of art from the collection of the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts have been collected on various panels. The exhibition includes copies of different artists, times and techniques: painting, engraving, poster, applied arts...  It will begin on 11 May (Bilbao) and end on 9 December (Durango), after passing through 30 towns of Bizkaia.

138 works by the bilbaine company have been collected in the exhibition "Parallels and Meridians", divided into eight sections: Initiation; Nature, Waters and Plots; Body and Footprints; Work; Light; Artist and its spaces; Architecture and Construction; City and Port.

Denise Scott Brown (Nkana, Zambia, 1931) is one of the most important architects of the second half of the 20th century.

These engravings have been donated by art editor Jose Ignacio Olave, based on the painting by the American painter Edwar Hopper, and will be exhibited until April 19.

The work of Sergio Prego, which has been at the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao for the last three years, has now begun to be removed, a facility composed of fourteen inflatables in black and white. The Museum has also published a book containing the memory and reflection of this installation of the Hondarribiarra composer.

The Museum of Fine Arts has reopened the building in 1970 after its rehabilitation. The opening ceremony was held with an exhibition of 50 Baselitz paintings and other emblematic works.

Eduardo Chillida's monumental sculpture "The Exaltation of Iron III" has already been installed at the entrance to the Bilbao Museum of Fine Arts. Since 2018 it has been in Chillida Leku for conservation reasons. Lana is four meters high and weighs 18 tons, and was created by Eduardo Chillida on behalf of the BBVA in 1991.

With its opening, the museum "marks an important milestone" in its transformation, which will culminate in the opening of the 'Agravitas' space scheduled for June 2026.

18 restored canvases from the original installation that Agustin Ibarrola created for the museum in 1979 will be presented. Six more will be added and the other three remaining to complete the set of 27 original copies will be considered lost.
